What is the Uniview Default Password?

As of 2026, Uniview (UNV) maintains a standard factory credential for all new and factory-reset devices. However, for security reasons, the system will force you to change this during the very first setup.

1. The Factory Default Credentials

If you are logging into a Uniview NVR, DVR, or IP camera for the first time, use these details:

  • Default Username: admin (case-sensitive, lowercase)1

  • Default Password: 123456

2. Common Alternative Defaults

While 123456 is the universal standard for UNV, certain specific models or third-party integrations (like adding a camera to a different brand's NVR) might use these legacy or secondary defaults:

Credential Type

Value

Secondary Password

admin

Old Legacy Password

111111

Hikvision Camera on UNV NVR

Admin123 or Uniview666

Default IP Address

192.168.1.13 (Cameras) or 192.168.1.30 (NVRs)

3. Why the Default Might Fail

If 123456 does not work, it is usually because the device is no longer in its factory state.

  • Mandatory Initialization: Modern Uniview firmware requires you to set a "Strong Password" (at least 9 characters with letters, numbers, and symbols) during the initial Startup Wizard. If someone else set up the system, they would have replaced the default immediately.

  • Auto-Activation: If you plugged a new camera into a Uniview NVR with PoE ports, the NVR often "activates" the camera automatically, syncing it to the NVR's current password. Try the password you use to log into your main recorder.

4. How to Reset to the Default

If you are locked out and the defaults fail, you must perform a reset to return the credentials to admin/123456.

  • The 10-Minute Rule (Cameras): For most Uniview IP cameras, you can press and hold the physical reset button for 15 seconds, but it must be done within the first 10 minutes of the camera being powered on.2

  • Forgot Password QR Code: On the NVR login screen, click "Forgot Password." You can scan the QR code with the EZView or UNV-Link app.3 If a recovery email was previously set, you will receive a 6-digit temporary code to reset the password back to your choice.
