How to Reset Zosi Password: A Step-by-Step Recovery Guide

Resetting a Zosi password is a bit different from other brands because they rely heavily on a "Super Password" generated by their support team or a specialized mobile tool.1 Whether you have a modern 2026 4K NVR or an older analog DVR, here is how to get back in.

Method 1: The "Super Password" (Official Support)

This is the most common way to unlock a Zosi recorder. You will need to provide your device's unique ID to Zosi's technical support.2

  1. Find your Device ID/UID: * Reboot your NVR/DVR.3 When the "Startup Wizard" appears, look for the UID or Device ID (a string of letters and numbers).4

    • Alternatively, check the sticker on the bottom of the recorder.

  2. Contact Zosi Support:

    • Email: service@zositech.com5

    • WhatsApp: +1-866-841-6932

    • Send them your Model Number and UID.6

  3. Use the Super Password: They will reply with a temporary password.

    • Use the username admin and enter the Super Password.7

    • Once you log in, go to Main Menu > Setup > User > Change Password.8

    • Leave the "Old Password" field blank and create your new one.9

Method 2: The "Zosi SPD" App (The Android Trick)

If you don't want to wait for an email, you can use a tool called Zosi SPD (Search Password Device). Note: As of 2026, this app is primarily available for Android; it is often unavailable on the Apple App Store.

  1. Download the Zosi SPD App on an Android device.

  2. Connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi network as your recorder.

  3. Open the app and scan your network. Select your DVR/NVR.

  4. The app will generate a temporary 6-digit code based on the system date.

  5. Enter that code on your recorder's login screen to unlock it.

Method 3: Physical Hard Reset (Cameras & Certain NVRs)

If you are resetting a standalone Zosi IP Camera or certain Wireless NVRs, there is a physical button.10

  • For Cameras: Locate the reset button (usually on the pigtail cable or behind a small hatch). With the camera powered on, press and hold for 10–15 seconds. The camera will announce "Reset Successful."

  • For NVRs: Some modern Zosi units have a small button on the motherboard. You must unscrew the lid, hold the button for 15 seconds while powering the unit on. This will return the username to admin and the password to (blank).

Pro-Tips for Zosi Systems

  • The Date Matters: If you are using a reset code from support, ensure your DVR's system date is correct. If your CMOS battery died and the year is 2000, a 2026 reset code will not work.

  • Zosi Smart App: If you are locked out of the mobile app, use the "Forgot Password" link on the login screen to receive a verification code via email.11
