How to Reset a Honeywell Password: Clear Steps for IP Cameras and NVRs

Honeywell security systems are built for reliability, but losing the administrator password can bring your surveillance to a halt. Whether you are using the Performance Series, the 30/60 Series, or an Impact Series camera, here is the official path to regaining access in 2026.

1. The Physical Reset (IP Cameras)

If you cannot log into the web interface, a physical factory reset is your best option. This will restore the device to its original out-of-the-box state.

• Locate the Button: On most Honeywell models (like the Performance or 30 Series), the reset button is a small, recessed pinhole located near the SD card slot or on the back/bottom of the camera housing.

  
  

• The Procedure:

  1. Disconnect power from the camera (unplug the PoE cable or power adapter).

     
     

  2. Use a paperclip to press and hold the Reset Button.

  3. While still holding the button, reconnect the power.

     
     

  4. Continue holding the button for 12 to 15 seconds.

  5. Release the button and wait for the camera to reboot.

     
     

• Default Login: Once reset, the camera will revert to its default credentials:

  • Username: admin

  • Password: 1234 (or you may be prompted to create a new one immediately).

2. Resetting Honeywell NVRs and DVRs

If you are locked out of your recorder, the process depends on the specific series.

• Impact Series (IH-Config Tool):

  1. Connect your PC to the same network as the NVR.

     
     

  2. Open the Honeywell IH-Config Tool.

  3. Select your NVR and click "Forgot Password."

  4. The system will prompt you to enter a registered email address to receive a security code.

     
     

  5. Once you receive the code, enter it into the tool to set a new password.

  1. Locate the physical reset button on the back of the NVR unit.

  2. Press and hold the button for 30 seconds while the power is on.

  3. The unit will beep and reboot to the factory "Setup Wizard."

3. Default Passwords to Try First

Before performing a full reset, try these common Honeywell default combinations:

• Username: admin / Password: 1234

• Username: administrator / Password: 1234

• Username: admin / Password: 12345
